Commitment and Open Crossings had warned me that the hardest part of paddling round the Britain was returning to normal life afterwards. After my round Britain trip, I went to Alaska for a couple of wonderful months, but after that I had to face the fact that my year off was over and I had run out of money. It was time to get my head down and back on the postdoc treadmill in Cambridge which was great, but didn’t leave much time for paddling, and none for blogging.
I didn’t paddle at all for a quite a long time, as I needed a decent rest and the other trips I wanted to do would take more time than I had available. Anyway, now I’ve restarted my blog, and will be writing about some of the shorter trips I’ve made over that last few years, and hopefully some longer ones in the future.
